Following the culmination of the Lok Sabha poll campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a spiritual journey, arriving in Kanniyakumari where he is set to engage in a 45-hour meditation session starting from Thursday evening.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's spiritual retreat unfolds at the iconic Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Tamil Nadu’s Kanniyakumari, situated at India’s southernmost tip.
This meditative endeavor marks the conclusion of campaign activities for the Lok Sabha election. For close to 45 hours, starting from the evening of May 30 until the evening of June 1, PM Modi will immerse himself in meditation at the Dhyan Mandapam, the very place where the revered spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda meditated 131 years ago.
Upon his arrival in Kanniyakumari on Thursday evening, the Prime Minister made a direct visit to the Bhagavathi Amman temple.
PM Modi has a history of embarking on spiritual sojourns after election campaigns. Previously, in 2019, he visited Kedarnath, and in 2014, he ventured to Shivaji’s Pratapgarh for similar retreats.
The ongoing Lok Sabha election spans seven phases, commencing on April 19, with the results slated to be announced on June 4. PM Modi and the BJP aspire to reclaim power, aiming for an electoral performance surpassing their 2019 achievements.
Ahead of PM Modi's visit, stringent security measures have been implemented, with 2,000 police personnel deployed to ensure his safety throughout his stay. Additionally, the Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy have been mobilized to maintain a vigilant watch over the area.
