PM Modi on the audacious "400 paar" goal: "If your child receives a 99 on the exam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an exclusive interview with India Today TV, shed light on the BJP-led NDA's ambitious target of securing over 400 seats in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Explaining the rationale behind this audacious goal, PM Modi likened it to the aspirations parents have for their children's academic achievements.

Drawing upon the analogy of parental expectations, PM Modi emphasized the innate desire for continual improvement. Just as parents encourage their children to surpass their previous academic performances, the NDA aims to exceed its past electoral successes. "If your child scores 90, you tell them 'next time score 95'. If the child scores 99, you tell them '100 is a bit difficult to score, but let's try," he remarked, elucidating the ethos driving the "400 paar" slogan.

PM Modi underscored that the NDA had already achieved the milestone of 400 seats, encompassing both NDA and NDA Plus, in the 2019 polls. Consequently, as the leader of the alliance, he deemed it incumbent upon himself to motivate alliance members to strive for even greater success.

Addressing the weight of responsibility he carries in the ongoing election, PM Modi emphasized the necessity for leaders to stand accountable for their actions. He lamented the prevalence of leaders who shirk their responsibilities and scapegoat others to evade accountability. "There should be someone who takes responsibility. There shouldn't be leaders who give their responsibilities to other people and run away," he asserted, reaffirming his commitment to leadership integrity and accountability.
