In a fiery retort to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's characterization of him as an "experienced thief," Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack, asserting that Modi's admission implied a lack of evidence against him in the purported liquor policy case. In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Kejriwal accused central agencies of unjustly imprisoning him without a shred of evidence in connection with the alleged money laundering case linked to the now-defunct liquor policy.
Kejriwal highlighted Modi's recent statement acknowledging the absence of evidence against him, interpreting it as an implicit admission of innocence. He criticized the Enforcement Directorate for detaining him without any substantiated proof or recovery of illicit proceeds related to the alleged scam. Kejriwal emphasized that despite two years of investigation and the concerted efforts of the ED and CBI, no tangible evidence had been unearthed.
Addressing the discrepancy in the purported scam's valuation, Kejriwal questioned the narrative shift from a supposed Rs 100 crore to a staggering Rs 1100 crore, underscoring the lack of clarity regarding the funds' whereabouts. He challenged the notion that such a substantial amount could vanish without a trace, raising doubts about the credibility of the accusations.
Kejriwal's response followed Modi's recent televised interview, where the Prime Minister branded him an "experienced thief," suggesting that no money had been recovered due to Kejriwal's cunning. Kejriwal's rebuttal highlighted the contentious nature of the allegations and his staunch denial of any wrongdoing.
