The US Secret Service reported that a driver died after crashing a vehicle into a gate at the White House late Saturday night. The crash occurred shortly before 10:30 pm at an outer perimeter gate of the White House complex.
The driver was found dead in the vehicle, and security protocols were implemented following the incident. However, there was no immediate threat to the White House, according to the Secret Service statement. The driver's identity has not been released at this time.
The Secret Service stated that they will continue to investigate the matter, with the fatal crash portion of the investigation being turned over to the Washington Metropolitan Police Department.
