"Poonch attack BJP's pre-poll stunt": Charanjit Channi of the Congress makes a strong accusation

Charanjit Singh Channi, a Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Punjab, sparked controversy with his statement suggesting that the recent terror attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district was orchestrated by the BJP as a pre-election stunt.

Channi dismissed the attack as a political maneuver by the BJP, claiming it was not a genuine terrorist incident but rather a staged event aimed at influencing the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He accused the BJP of playing with people's lives and bodies for electoral gain, alleging that such incidents are strategically timed to coincide with elections.

The former Chief Minister's remarks drew criticism for their politicization of a serious security issue. His assertion that the attack was fabricated to sway elections contradicts official reports confirming the incident and the loss of life. Channi's comments were seen as insensitive and disrespectful to the victims of the attack and their families.

In contrast, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi condemned the attack as a cowardly act and expressed condolences to the martyred soldier's family while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured personnel. His response underscored the party's stance on the issue, emphasizing empathy and solidarity with the armed forces in the face of terrorism.

The incident highlights the sensitivity surrounding security matters in conflict-prone regions like Jammu and Kashmir and underscores the importance of responsible political discourse in addressing such issues.
