The Ministry of External Affairs clarified that Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna did not obtain political clearance for his trip to Germany, where he traveled on a diplomatic passport amid allegations of sexual abuse. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated during a press briefing that neither did Revanna seek political clearance nor was any issued by the ministry for his travel to Germany. As diplomatic passport holders do not require visas to enter Germany, no visa note was issued either. Additionally, the ministry confirmed that it had not issued any visa note for Revanna's travel to any other country.

Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, departed for Frankfurt, Germany, on April 26 amidst allegations of sexual misconduct against him. Revanna, who is contesting for another term from the Hassan constituency in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, found himself embroiled in controversy after explicit videos purportedly involving him surfaced on social media. However, Revanna has vehemently denied the authenticity of these videos, alleging that they were morphed. He has also lodged a complaint regarding this matter through his polling agent.

In response to the allegations, the Karnataka government established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the purported sex scandal involving the Hassan MP. On Thursday, the SIT issued a lookout notice against Revanna at all international immigration points. Revanna, who was scheduled to appear before the SIT on the same day, filed an anticipatory bail plea with a sessions court in Bengaluru.
