Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy has made a heartfelt plea to his nephew, Prajwal Revanna, urging him to return to India from Germany and face the ongoing investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the sex scandal case. Kumaraswamy emphasized the importance of preserving the family's dignity amidst the allegations.
Prajwal Revanna, who departed for Germany following the emergence of several videos allegedly depicting sexual abuse, is now the subject of an arrest warrant. He had been the joint candidate of JD(S) and BJP from Hassan in the Lok Sabha elections.
"Come back to India. Save our family's dignity. Please appear and cooperate with the SIT investigation. If you have not made any mistake, why fear?" Kumaraswamy appealed to his nephew, emphasizing the significance of facing the investigation.
Kumaraswamy also clarified that interactions with his brother HD Revanna's family were limited to special occasions and festivals, highlighting a distant relationship between the families.
The Congress government has initiated a SIT probe into the case, although both the BJP and JD(S), as NDA partners, have demanded the involvement of the CBI. They also seek action against those responsible for circulating the explicit videos.
Alleging government surveillance, Kumaraswamy claimed that his family members' phones were being tapped. He further accused Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and called for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take action against him, citing an alleged audio tape involving Shivakumar and BJP leader G Devaraje Gowda. Kumaraswamy accused Shivakumar of attempting to manipulate the case.
Gowda, who previously disclosed the existence of sex tapes implicating Prajwal Revanna, was arrested earlier in connection with a sexual harassment case.
Prajwal Revanna faces multiple charges, including rape, molestation, intimidation, blackmailing, and threatening, with Interpol issuing a blue corner notice for his arrest.
