Rahul Gandhi's jab at the PM regarding the teen driver's bail in Pune: Justice depends on wealth

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday over the bail granted to a teenager who crashed his Porsche into a bike on May 19, killing two techies in Pune. In a post on X, Gandhi accused Modi of creating "two Indias," where justice is influenced by wealth.

Gandhi argued that ordinary drivers who accidentally cause fatalities face severe jail time, while the wealthy receive lenient treatment. The teen driver of the Porsche was granted bail by a juvenile court just 14 hours after his detention, causing public outrage. Bail conditions included writing a 300-word essay on road accidents, working with traffic police for 15 days, and giving a presentation on traffic rules.

Gandhi's remarks also referenced a recent interview in which Modi was asked about the growing wealth disparity in India. Gandhi emphasized that justice should be equal for both rich and poor, highlighting the fight against injustice.

Additionally, opposition leaders, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, alleged that the teenager received special treatment at the police station, where he was served pizza and a burger. Raut called for the dismissal of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and claimed that an MLA from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's NCP faction helped the teenager at the station.
