HD Revanna, the MLA from Karnataka's Holenarasipura and son of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, has been arrested by the Karnataka Police in connection with an alleged kidnapping case. He has been accused of kidnapping and illegally confining a woman who is alleged to have been sexually abused by his son, Prajwal Revanna. HD Revanna has been sent to Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody until May 8.
Terming his arrest as a result of a 'political conspiracy', HD Revanna denied any involvement in the kidnapping case. He claimed that there was no evidence against him based on the complaint registered on May 2.
"This is a big political conspiracy. There is no evidence pertaining to the May 2 complaint," Revanna stated to reporters in Bengaluru.
The complaint alleges that HD Revanna's associate, Sathish Babanna, abducted the victim's mother on April 29, indicating that the MLA wished to meet her. The complainant, the victim's 20-year-old son, further stated that Babanna threatened him and his family if his mother revealed anything about the incident.
Later, the son discovered that his mother was one of the women featured in explicit videos circulating publicly, allegedly showing her being tied up and sexually assaulted by Prajwal Revanna.
The SIT is also investigating allegations of sexual abuse involving Prajwal Revanna following the emergence of several explicit videos purportedly showing him engaging in sexual misconduct with multiple women. These videos have been widely circulated on social media platforms.
