Road overtake dispute results in an attack on a Kerala family in Bengaluru

The incident of a Kerala family being attacked by a motorcyclist in Bengaluru's Sarjapur area has sparked outrage and raised concerns about road rage and safety on busy city roads.

According to the complaint filed by Akhil Babu, his wife Pooja Somnath, and their young child Nakshatra was traveling to a hospital when the accused, identified as Jagadish, attempted to overtake their car from the left side on a crowded road. When his attempt failed, Jagadish reportedly became enraged and began verbally abusing the family before physically assaulting them by smashing the car door with his helmet.

The violent altercation resulted in injuries to the couple and their child, prompting Akhil to confront the attacker. However, he too was assaulted by Jagadish.

CCTV footage capturing the incident has circulated widely, drawing attention to the brazen act of aggression and underscoring the need for improved road safety measures.

In response to the complaint lodged by Akhil, who works at Flipkart, the Bengaluru Police has initiated legal action against Jagadish. The charges include mischief causing damage, criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint, intentional insult with intent to provoke, and voluntarily causing hurt.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining civility and patience while navigating traffic, as well as the need for swift and decisive action to hold perpetrators of such violent acts accountable.
