Prajwal Revanna, the JD(S) MP from Karnataka facing sexual harassment allegations, has announced his intention to return to India and appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 31. In a video message, he asserted his innocence, labeling the accusations against him as false and asserting his trust in the judiciary and the law.
Revanna, who left the country amid the allegations, cited depression and isolation as reasons for his absence and apologized for not keeping his family, including his uncle and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, and party workers informed about his whereabouts. He characterized the allegations against him as a political conspiracy and pointed out statements made by opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi.
The JD(S) MP's decision to return follows a stern warning from his grandfather, HD Deve Gowda, and pressure from various quarters, including an arrest warrant issued against him and the issuance of a 'Blue Corner Notice' by Interpol. Revanna's father, MLA HD Revanna, is also implicated in separate cases related to the molestation and kidnapping of a woman.
In response to Revanna's announcement, JD(S) president HD Kumaraswamy expressed relief and gratitude, indicating that he believes Revanna has respect for the party workers. He emphasized the need for the truth to emerge through the SIT investigation and welcomed Revanna's apology, noting his appreciation for the concern shown towards party members.
