Sector-wise, the auto, IT, pharma, FMCG, realty, and healthcare indices ended in the green, whereas PSU bank, metal, energy, and media sectors closed with losses.
Britannia shares emerged as the top gainer on the Nifty index, registering a notable surge of 7% during the trading session. Conversely, Titan shares witnessed the most significant decline following the announcement of their Q4 results.
At the closing bell, Britannia shares were trading at Rs 5,057.90, marking a gain of 6.6%, while Titan shares ended the day at Rs 3,284.00, reflecting a decline of 7.07%.
Other top gainers included Kotak Mahindra Bank, TCS, Hindustan Unilever, and Mahindra and Mahindra, while Adani Enterprises, Coal India, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and State Bank of India were among the top losers.
The Volatility Index (INDIA VIX) increased by 13.56% and concluded the day at 16.60, indicating heightened market volatility.
