A violent clash erupted at a Golgappa shop in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Dehat district, resulting in injuries to six individuals and the subsequent arrest of 12 suspects, according to police reports.
The altercation, which involved gunfire, as well as assaults with sticks and rods, occurred between two groups believed to have a longstanding personal rivalry. The clash unfolded near the Golgappa shop on Thursday, escalating tensions that had been simmering due to prior altercations.
The sequence of events leading to the clash began on Wednesday when two individuals, identified as Deepu and Harikishan, along with their associates, allegedly assaulted Sanjay Singh and another person named Lucky Senger. Sanjay's mother subsequently filed a First Information Report (FIR) against 20 individuals, naming nine of them.
The following day, Chetan Singh lodged a complaint accusing Sanjay Senger, along with his sons Lucky Senger and Arpit Senger, and around three dozen others, of brutally attacking him.
On Thursday evening, the situation reached a boiling point as members of both groups confronted each other near the Golgappa shop. The altercation quickly turned violent, involving the use of bricks, sticks, and even firearms, resulting in multiple injuries.
In response to the incident, law enforcement authorities swiftly apprehended 12 individuals in connection with the clash. The injured victims were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, with one individual reported to be in critical condition.
Deputy Inspector General (Kanpur range) Jogendra Kumar disclosed that an inquiry into the matter has been initiated under the supervision of Rajesh Pandey, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) for Kanpur Dehat. Authorities are working diligently to gather evidence and ascertain the circumstances surrounding the clash.
The arrested suspects, identified as Vishwanath Singh (26), Vishram Singh (36), Madan Singh (19), Ritesh Singh (23), Dipak Singh (19), Devendra Singh (19), Babu (20), Dharmendra Singh alias Dharma (32), Ravikant Gupta (35), Chote Lal Gupta (65), Saurabh Gupta (26), and his brother Piyush Gupta (30), are all residents of Arya Nagar in Kanpur Dehat district.
