The episode occurred in Bambhiyanpur village within the Bilhaur area of Kanpur, where a Bhagwat Katha event was being hosted at the residence of Subhash Saini.

As part of the festivities, a procession featuring children representing various characters from the Bhagwat Katha was organized. Tragically, amidst the enactment, the child portraying Goddess Kali purportedly wielded a knife, inadvertently inflicting a fatal injury to the boy cast as a 'demon'.
