During a press conference on Friday, Delhi minister Atishi made strong assertions regarding the assault on Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence, branding Maliwal as a "pawn" of the BJP.
Atishi highlighted that Maliwal had arrived at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence on May 13 without a prior appointment and allegedly proceeded to threaten police officials present there. Atishi referenced a mobile phone video from the residence, depicting Maliwal engaged in a heated exchange with security personnel who requested her departure from the premises. Atishi emphasized, "The video clearly contradicts all claims made by Swati Maliwal in the FIR. The party is now aware of both perspectives."
Detailing the incident further, Atishi claimed that despite being instructed to wait in the waiting room, Maliwal forcefully entered the drawing room, purportedly threatening officials on duty. As Maliwal allegedly attempted to gain entry into the main residence from the drawing room, Atishi stated that Kejriwal's personal assistant and aide, Bibhav Kumar, intervened and subsequently summoned the police officers on duty.
Atishi asserted that the entire episode was orchestrated by the BJP, insinuating a premeditated scheme behind the incident. She also mentioned that Bibhav Kumar had filed a counter FIR, providing a different narrative of the events that unfolded on May 13.
Responding to inquiries about AAP leader Sanjay Singh's earlier statement, Atishi clarified that Singh had only been aware of one side of the story at that time, but now, he is acquainted with both versions. Singh had previously remarked on May 15 that Kumar had "misbehaved" with Maliwal at the Delhi CM's residence and that Kejriwal would take stringent action in response.
