The leader of the Karnataka BJP disputes getting a letter about sex videos from the party

Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra has refuted claims made by BJP leader and lawyer Devaraje Gowda regarding the alleged explicit video clips involving JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna. Vijayendra stated that he had no prior knowledge of the videos, dismissing Gowda's assertion of sending him a letter on the matter as "patently false."

In a post on X, Vijayendra emphasized that no such letter had been received by him, nor was he aware of the existence of the videos. The alleged sex scandal has presented a setback for both the BJP and its ally JD(S) amidst the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.

Gowda had purportedly obtained access to the videos through Prajwal's former driver and claimed to have sent a letter to Vijayendra earlier this year, urging the BJP to refrain from nominating Prajwal for the Hassan Lok Sabha seat. Gowda also warned of potential political repercussions and alleged that Congress leaders possessed similar videos stored on a pen drive.

Vijayendra further questioned why Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who allegedly had knowledge of the videos, did not initiate investigations during the Congress government's tenure and waited until the elections to bring the matter to light. He criticized the Congress government's delayed response and called for accountability.

In response to the scandal, the JD(S) suspended Prajwal, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, who reportedly left the country for Germany. Additionally, a woman who previously worked in Prajwal's household accused him and his father, JD(S) MLA HD Revanna, of sexual harassment, leading to a case being filed against them. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has issued notices to both leaders as part of the ongoing probe into the allegations.
