There will be negotiations between France and India for a Rafale Marine jet on May 30

A high-level French government delegation will arrive in India on May 30 to negotiate the multi-billion-dollar Rafale Marine fighter jet deal, according to top defence sources. The delegation will engage with officials from the Defence Ministry's acquisition wing and the Indian Navy in Delhi.

The government aims to finalize the negotiations and complete the contract by the end of the current fiscal year, providing a significant enhancement to the military. This project is crucial for the Indian Navy's fighter aircraft fleet, which currently includes Russian-origin MiG-29K fighters.

The Rafale Marine jets, to be procured from Dassault Aviation, will replace the MiG-29s. This marks India's second major purchase of fighter jets from the French aerospace company in recent years. The procurement will include 22 single-seater Rafale Marine aircraft and four twin-seater trainer versions.

The urgency of this deal is underscored by the Indian Navy's current shortage of aircraft and submarines. The Defence Acquisition Council has already approved the proposal, paving the way for a substantial boost to India's naval capabilities.
