Three independent MLAs defect from the Haryana administration and support the Congress

Three independent MLAs in Haryana, who were previously supporting the government led by Nayab Singh Saini, have withdrawn their support and opted to campaign for Congress candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Gollen, and Dharampal Gonder announced their decision at a press conference in Rohtak, alongside former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and State Congress chief Udai Bhan.

"We are withdrawing support to the government. We are extending our support to the Congress. We have taken this decision on various issues including those related to farmers," Gonder stated during the press conference.

Reports suggest that the independent MLAs were dissatisfied after not being included in the Saini government.

Meanwhile, the Congress has called for President's rule in Haryana, asserting that the BJP government has lost its majority.

"The present strength of the Haryana Assembly is 88, of which the BJP has 40 members. The BJP government earlier had the support of JJP MLAs and Independents, but JJP had also withdrawn support and now Independents are also leaving," stated Udai Bhan.

Bhan further declared the Nayab Singh Saini government as a minority government and demanded the Chief Minister's resignation.

"Saini should tender his resignation as he does not have the right to stay even for a minute," Bhan asserted.

Responding to these developments, Nayab Singh Saini criticized the Congress, suggesting that the party is merely fulfilling the desires of certain individuals and is disconnected from the public's interests.

"I have received this information. Maybe Congress is engaged in fulfilling some people's wishes now. Congress has nothing to do with the wishes of the public," remarked the Chief Minister.

Despite these shifts, several BJP leaders in Haryana have maintained that the ruling party still commands the support of 47 MLAs in the state. "We have the support of 47 MLAs, including 40 party legislators, two independents, one HLP and four JJP MLAs," a BJP source claimed.
