Three Maoists were slain in a Maharashtra police encounter, and firearms were taken

According to police reports, a confrontation between security forces and Maoists in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district resulted in the demise of three Maoist insurgents, including two females. Alongside this unfortunate outcome, the security forces also seized a cache of arms, comprising three automatic weapons: one AK47, one carbine, and one INSAS rifle, as well as Maoist literature and personal belongings, from the site of the altercation.

The Gadchiroli Police received intelligence indicating the presence of members of the Perimili Dalam in the forest vicinity near Katrangatta village in Bhamragad Taluka, allegedly plotting subversive activities during the ongoing Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign (TCOC) period. Responding swiftly to this information, two units of the anti-Maoist C-60 squad, a specialized combat wing of the Gadchiroli police, were deployed to conduct a search operation in the area.

As the security teams commenced their search operation, the Maoists initiated a barrage of indiscriminate gunfire towards them, prompting a robust counter-response from the C-60 personnel. Despite the Maoists' attempt to evade capture by retreating into the dense forest, the intensified pressure from the police ultimately led to their apprehension. Subsequent searches of the area yielded the bodies of one male and two female Maoists, identified as Wasu Samar Korcha, Reshma Madkam (25), and Kamla Madavi (24), all affiliated with the Perimili Dalam.

These individuals were implicated in a range of criminal activities, including murder, encounters, and dacoity, warranting a combined cash reward of Rs 22 lakhs from the Maharashtra Government. The operation's success was attributed to the coordinated efforts of various law enforcement authorities, including Spl. IG Anti Naxal Operations Sandip Patil, DIG Gadchiroli Range Ankit Goyal, SP Gadchiroli Neelotpal, Addl. SP (Ops) Yatish Deshmukh, Addl. SP (Admn.) Kumar Chintha, Addl. SP Aheri M. Ramesh, and DySP (Ops) Vishal Nagargoje.

SP Neelotpal of Gadchiroli has urged all Maoist insurgents to renounce violence and embrace the path of development and societal integration by surrendering to authorities.
