Two Pune policemen are suspended for failing to promptly notify seniors about the Porsche crash

Two Pune Police officials, Police Inspector (PI) Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector (API) Vishwanath Todkari, stationed at Yerwada police station, faced suspension following allegations of failure to report the Porsche accident involving a teen driver, resulting in the tragic deaths of two individuals in Kalyani Nagar area. Pune Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar confirmed their suspension, citing their failure to notify the wireless control room about the accident.

The incident, where a Porsche allegedly driven by a 17-year-old, purportedly under the influence of alcohol, fatally struck two motorbike riders, prompted public outcry and scrutiny over the initial bail granted to the accused teen.

Moreover, concerns arose regarding potential tampering with evidence, with authorities citing CCTV footage showing the juvenile consuming alcohol at a pub. CP Amitesh Kumar emphasized the presence of additional evidence beyond blood reports, asserting the accused's awareness of the potential consequences of his actions leading to the fatal accident.

Reports of preferential treatment extended to the juvenile while in police custody, including allegations of a pizza party, surfaced, prompting an internal investigation. CP Kumar clarified that while no such party took place, internal inquiries were initiated into related events.

Efforts to bolster the case's integrity were underscored, with legal actions initiated against the accused's father and bar owners, and ongoing technical analysis of evidence.

The teenager's father, Vishal Agarwal, along with four others, faced arrest in connection with the incident and were remanded to judicial custody until June 7. These developments highlight the gravity of the situation and the concerted efforts to ensure accountability and justice.
