Video: London police officer using a taser on a man brandishing a sword



A 36-year-old man was apprehended by police in northeast London on Tuesday after allegedly killing a teenager and injuring multiple others with a sword. CCTV footage capturing the incident shows a woman police officer confronting the suspect, who was armed with a sword, and using a taser to subdue him.

In the video shared by The Daily Mail, the suspect, wearing a yellow hoodie, is seen in a driveway as the officer approaches with her taser drawn. The footage depicts a brief struggle as the officers deploy the taser, eventually leading to the suspect's apprehension.

The Metropolitan Police clarified that the incident was not deemed to be terror-related or a targeted attack.

According to reports, the police responded to a call early Tuesday reporting a vehicle crashing into a house and individuals being stabbed. Videos from the scene depict the suspect, clad in a yellow hoodie, brandishing a long sword or knife near residential properties. Police officers are heard urging the suspect to drop the weapon and warning residents to secure their doors as they pursue him through the area.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak described the incident as shocking, emphasizing that such violence has no place in society. He expressed solidarity with the affected individuals and their families, commending the emergency services for their swift response and praising the courage displayed by the police officers involved in the operation.
