Visitors were required to sign a "release of liability" form in order to use the Rajkot Game Zone

The TRP Game Zone in Rajkot, Gujarat, where a devastating fire claimed the lives of 28 individuals, including nine children, had visitors sign a mandatory form waiving their right to sue the company for any liabilities arising from negligence. This form absolved the company, its agents, and employees from all liability for personal injury, property damage, or loss, or wrongful death caused by negligence.

The gaming zone reportedly lacked a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the fire department, and it stored large quantities of petrol and diesel for generators and gaming activities. These flammable substances likely intensified the fire. Moreover, the gaming zone had only one entry and exit point, potentially exacerbating the situation during the fire incident.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but in response to the tragedy, the state's Director General of Police (DGP) has instructed police commissioners and superintendents across Gujarat to inspect all game zones in the state. Those found operating without fire safety permissions are to be closed down. This inspection process is to be conducted in coordination with fire officers from the relevant municipalities.
