"Waiting for results of India's probe" into the alleged murder plot in Pannun

The United States is awaiting the results of Indian investigations into allegations related to a plot to assassinate Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in the US, according to State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller. The Indian government has initiated an inquiry committee to investigate the matter, and the US is closely monitoring the progress of this investigation.

Miller emphasized the seriousness with which the US views these allegations and urged India to also take them seriously. He refrained from commenting on the details of the investigation, directing inquiries to Canadian authorities regarding their investigation and deferring to the Department of Justice regarding the indictment returned in the United States.

The Washington Post recently reported on the alleged involvement of a Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) officer in the plot to assassinate Pannun. India has strongly rejected these claims, stating that the report made unwarranted and unsubstantiated accusations. An investigation into the case is ongoing, with a high-level inquiry committee established by New Delhi to probe the matter further.
