With Arvinder Lovely's departure, Devender Yadav will take over as interim Delhi Congress chief

Devender Yadav, the Congress's Punjab in-charge, formerly served as an MLA representing Badli in Delhi. At present, he holds the responsibility within the Congress Party for overseeing its affairs in Punjab.

In a recent development, Devender Yadav, who previously held the position of MLA for Badli in Delhi, has been appointed by the Congress Party as the interim president of its Delhi unit. This decision was made following the resignation of Arvinder Singh Lovely from his role as Delhi Congress chief, citing his dissatisfaction with the party's decision to form an alliance with AAP for the Lok Sabha elections in the city.

The internal divisions within the Delhi Congress became evident when Arvinder Singh Lovely tendered his resignation, expressing his inability to function effectively within the existing organizational structure.

Despite stepping down, Lovely emphasized that he had no intentions of affiliating with any other political party. He also highlighted the opposition within the Delhi Congress unit to forming an alliance with AAP, which he accused of making baseless corruption allegations against the Congress Party. He pointed out that several AAP Cabinet ministers were facing corruption charges, which he believed undermined the integrity of the alliance.

It's worth noting that the Congress Party has entered into an electoral alliance with AAP for the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi. Under this arrangement, AAP is contesting four seats while the Congress is contesting three.

In his resignation letter addressed to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Lovely expressed his discontent with the lack of consultation regarding the selection of candidates for certain constituencies, particularly Kanhaiya Kumar for North East Delhi and Udit Raj for North West Delhi. He referred to these individuals as "total strangers" to the Delhi Congress, criticizing their unfamiliarity with the party's ethos and policies.
