The commencement of the Char Dham Yatra saw a surge in devotees heading towards the Yamunotri temple. A viral video highlighted congestion along the pilgrimage route, raising concerns about devotee safety and administrative arrangements.
Devotees expressed frustration over long wait times and alleged mismanagement by the Uttarakhand government. However, Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi clarified that the video depicted a specific area between Janaki Chatti and Yamunotri Dham around 5 pm, exacerbated by heavy rainfall and a large influx of devotees.
The situation, confined to a 200-meter radius, led to crowding as people sought shelter from the rain. Fortunately, authorities swiftly brought the situation under control, and no injuries were reported.
A subsequent video, shot around 2:30 pm the next day, showed pilgrims trekking along the hillside path amid light rain. Police confirmed that the situation had normalized, and the pilgrimage to Yamunotri Dham was proceeding smoothly.
