A section of the Delhi terrace the six-year-old was playing on collapsed, killing him

In Delhi's Harsh Vihar area, a tragic incident occurred where a six-year-old boy lost his life after a portion of the terrace of a two-storey house collapsed. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey, the incident happened around 5 pm when the child was playing on the terrace of the old building. Suddenly, a section of the terrace collapsed, causing the boy to fall to the ground, resulting in fatal injuries.

The boy was rushed to GTB Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. The father of the deceased, Santosh Kumar, along with his family, had been residing as tenants on the premises for the last six months. Santosh, who also has a nine-year-old daughter, reported the incident to the police.

Meanwhile, the owner of the house, identified as Ramji Lal, lives on the ground floor of the same building but has been absconding since the incident. The police have initiated a case against Ramji Lal, and investigations are currently underway to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic collapse.

The incident highlights the dangers associated with aging infrastructure and underscores the importance of regular maintenance and structural safety assessments to prevent such accidents in residential areas.
