After her 2-year-old son passed away, Nana Patekar wondered, "What would people say"

Actor Nana Patekar endured the heartbreaking loss of his elder son, Durvasa, at the tender age of two and a half years. In a recent interview, he candidly shared about the profound impact of his son's passing and the struggles his family faced. Nana disclosed that Durvasa had been born with a congenital eye condition, which exacerbated their ordeal.

Speaking to IndiaToday's sister channel The Lallantop, the 73-year-old actor recounted, "My eldest son was unwell from the time he was born. He had certain health issues, particularly with one of his eyes, though it was not outwardly visible." Nana admitted that initially, his concerns were more about societal perceptions than his son's well-being. "I felt a deep sense of disappointment when I looked at him, worrying about what others would think, what kind of son Nana has. I didn't consider how he felt or his perspective. My mind was occupied with how society would perceive my son," he added somberly.

Reflecting on the tragedy, Nana expressed his sorrow, saying, "His name was Durvasa. He spent two and a half years with us. But what can one do? Such are the trials of life."

During the interview, Nana also addressed other aspects of his life, including the MeToo allegations raised by actor Tanushree Dutta and his absence from 'Welcome 3', a sequel to the successful franchise he starred in alongside Anil Kapoor. Responding to queries about 'Welcome 3', Nana quipped, "I am not part of it, perhaps they believe I have become too old."

Nana further discussed his reaction to Tanushree's allegations, asserting once more that they were baseless. "No, I knew from the beginning that there was nothing of that sort. I never took it seriously. I didn't feel angry. There was nothing that happened. If something had happened, I would have spoken about it. Suddenly, someone says you did this, what can I say? I didn't do it. What else can I say?" he clarified.

Following the allegations in 2018, Mumbai police exonerated Nana Patekar in 2019, citing insufficient evidence to substantiate the claims made by Tanushree Dutta.
