According to numerous reports on Monday that cited authorities, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced the resignation of his six-member war cabinet. With the resignation of centrist former general Benny Gantz last week, this was a widely anticipated action.
Following Gantz's announcement of his departure from Netanyahu's emergency administration, the far-right coalition partners of the Israeli prime minister have been pressing for the formation of a new war cabinet. Among the war cabinet's leaders, he was the lone centrist.
Along with leaving the coalition last week, Gantz also took one of the three war cabinet monitors, Gadi Eisenkot, with him.
The far-right National Security Minister Ben Gvir had been pushing to be added to the forum, therefore it was not surprising that it was dissolved.
A limited group of ministers, including Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, who served in the war cabinet, are now anticipated to have discussions with Netanyahu over the ongoing Gaza battle, according to news agency Reuters.
It is also claimed by The Times of Israel that Ben Gvir will not be included in these conversations.
Following his previous presentation of Netanyahu with a June 8 deadline to commit to an approved version for the continuing Gaza fight, which included stating who may run Gaza after the war with Hamas, Benny Gantz resigned from the war cabinet. Gantz had made threats to remove his centrist party from the emergency cabinet and to step down from the war cabinet.
On June 9, Gantz made his resignation known.Â
