Andhra police find a naked woman close to a railway track; they believe she was raped


Police in Andhra Pradesh’s Baptala district are investigating the tragic death of a 21-year-old woman whose body was discovered near a railway track on Friday, June 21. Authorities are treating the incident as a case of murder and rape.

Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal provided details about the victim, who was unmarried and resided in Epurupalem village. She went missing early Friday morning, having left her home around 5:30 am to attend to nature's call but never returned.

Her worried family initiated a search and eventually found her body close to the railway tracks, where she was discovered in a naked state, as reported by news agency PTI.

The police have officially registered a case of murder and rape, and a detailed investigation is currently underway. “The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident and will arrest the accused soon,” assured SP Vakul Jindal.

In response to the incident, the Andhra Pradesh government announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the deceased woman.

State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, who visited the crime scene, shared additional information about the victim. She came from a poor family and worked as a seamstress, while her father is employed as a weaver.
