Arvind Kejriwal surrendered at Tihar and was placed in judicial custody until June 5

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal surrendered at Tihar Jail on Sunday as his interim bail ended on June 1. Following his surrender, Kejriwal was sent to judicial custody until June 5 by the Rouse Avenue Court.

The Enforcement Directorate had previously sought his judicial custody, but the application was pending while Kejriwal was out on interim bail, granted by the Supreme Court last month to allow him to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. After his surrender, the duty judge addressed the Enforcement Directorate's plea and ordered Kejriwal's judicial custody.

Following his surrender, Kejriwal is set to undergo medical check-ups at Tihar Jail, where his sugar and blood pressure levels will be recorded.

Before surrendering, Kejriwal visited Raj Ghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi, prayed at the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place, and addressed AAP leaders and workers at the party office.

In his address to the media, Kejriwal criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, claiming his imprisonment was a result of raising his voice against "dictatorship" rather than any involvement in corruption. He asserted that despite extensive raids, no evidence of corruption had been found against him.

Kejriwal also dismissed exit polls predicting a significant victory for the BJP-led NDA alliance, calling them "fake" and alleging potential manipulation of electronic voting machines (EVMs). He cited an example of an exit poll in Rajasthan that inaccurately predicted 33 seats for the BJP, despite the state having only 25 seats.
