Union Minister Pralhad Joshi criticized Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accusing him of orchestrating a move to curtail the powers of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar by advocating for additional Deputy Chief Ministers in the state. Joshi asserted that this move was a result of an internal power struggle between the two leaders, leading to administrative instability.
In response to calls for more Deputy Chief Ministers, Joshi lambasted the state government for allegedly dragging the BJP's name into the controversy. He dismissed these claims, emphasizing that such accusations were baseless and distracting from the internal governance issues within the state.
Expressing concern over the political maneuvering, Joshi stated to India Today that the state government's focus on creating additional Deputy Chief Minister positions was causing confusion and questioned the silence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on the matter.
Meanwhile, DK Shivakumar, one of the Deputy Chief Ministers, refuted any formal demand for additional Deputy Chief Ministers, attributing the discussion to media sensationalism. He clarified that certain individuals were seeking publicity rather than pursuing substantive governance issues.
The situation underscores ongoing political tensions and maneuvers within Karnataka's state administration, highlighting internal disputes over power dynamics and governance responsibilities.
