The BJP won 303 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, setting a target of 370. However, the BJP could not achieve huge numbers.As of 19:00, NDA was leading with 293 seats, while it was ahead of the BJP with 241 seats.In comparison, the party alone and in alliance won a significant majority in the 2019 elections. In the previous elections, the BJP had won 303 seats, more than the 272 votes required to form the government.
Overall, the BJP-led NDA won 353 seats in 2019 and recorded a turnout of 65.1% (353/542). Voter turnout refers to the share of seats won by a party or coalition out of the total number of seats it contested in the election.Of the total votes cast, the BJP got 37.36% while the NDA got around 45%.In these elections, NDA's share ofvotes has increased slightly as per trends. As of 7pm, the NDA had 45% of the votes.
The number of MPs appears to have decreased in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, two states where the party performed strongly in 2019.BJP won 62 out of 80 seats in UP and 23 out of 48 seats in Maharashtra.However, this time NDA was ahead with 38 seats and BJP was ahead with 35 seats. The Indian Union, comprising the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, was ahead with 41 seats.
