Buoyed by the INDIA bloc's stunning performance in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress has announced a 'Dhanyawaad Yatra' to be held from June 11 to 15 in all 403 constituencies of the state. This celebratory march is intended to express gratitude to the voters following the INDIA bloc's significant success in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress, alongside its ally Samajwadi Party (SP), achieved a remarkable feat in Uttar Pradesh, with Congress winning six seats and SP securing 37 out of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats. This marked a significant improvement from their 2019 performance, where Congress won five seats and SP managed just one. In contrast, the BJP, which previously held 62 seats, saw its count reduced to 33.
The 'Dhanyawaad Yatra' will feature senior party leaders and workers, who will honor people from different communities by distributing copies of the Constitution. This initiative underscores the party's commitment to inclusivity and recognition of the diverse voter base that contributed to their success.
Notable victories included Rahul Gandhi's win over BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh in Raebareli by over three lakh votes, a seat previously held by his mother, Sonia Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi's victory margin surpassed that of his mother's in 2019. Additionally, Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma unseated BJP's Smriti Irani in Amethi by a margin of over 1.65 lakh votes.
Other parties in Uttar Pradesh also saw success, with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) winning two seats, Apna Dal (Soneylal) securing one, and Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) also winning a seat.
Uttar Pradesh, with its 80 Lok Sabha seats and 403 assembly constituencies, remains a crucial battleground in Indian politics, and the recent performance of the INDIA bloc indicates a significant shift in the state's political landscape.
