First pre-monsoon showers arrive in Mumbai, providing relief from the hot

Wednesday morning brought the first pre-monsoon showers to several parts of Mumbai, offering relief from the intense heat and humidity. The day began with cloudy skies, and around 7 am, light rains started in some areas of the city.

Notably, areas like Dadar, Kandivali, Magathane, Oshiwara, Wadala, and Ghatkopar experienced rainfall ranging from 4 mm to 26 mm between 7 am and 8 am, according to a civic official. Additionally, some parts of central and south Mumbai also received light showers.

Despite the rain, road traffic and train services continued to operate normally in the city, as reported by the official.

Traditionally, the monsoon arrives in Mumbai in the second week of June. However, last month, the city witnessed unseasonal rain accompanied by strong winds, leading to a tragic incident in the Ghatkopar area where a hoarding collapse resulted in several fatalities.
