Intel alerts Jammu and Kashmir to a potential terror attack on security personnel

Intelligence agencies have issued a high alert in several areas of Jammu and Kashmir following warnings of potential fidayeen (suicide) attacks by terror outfits targeting security forces. This warning comes in the wake of three terror attacks in the Jammu region over the last three days.

The regions under high alert include Sunderbani, Nowshera, Domana, Lamberi, and Akhnoor in the Rajouri and Jammu districts. Agencies have advised maximum vigilance, particularly around security force camps and installations.

On Tuesday, the Doda and Kathua districts experienced separate terror attacks. In Doda, a joint checkpost of the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and police on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road was attacked, resulting in a fierce gunfight and the death of a CRPF jawan, with six security personnel injured. The Jaish-e-Mohammed-linked group, the Kashmir Tigers, claimed responsibility for this attack.

In Kathua's Saida Sukhal village, a terror attack occurred on Tuesday evening, injuring a civilian. During the follow-up search operation, two terrorists were killed.

Two days prior, terrorists fired upon a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. The bus rolled down a gorge, killing ten people and injuring 33 others. The Resistance Front (TRF), backed by Pakistan, claimed responsibility for this bus attack.
