Andhra Pradesh's outgoing Chief Minister and Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leader, Jagan Mohan Reddy, claimed on Thursday that the state is experiencing "unprecedented violence" and called for the Governor's intervention.
In a letter to Governor S Abdul Nazeer, Jagan Reddy alleged a breakdown in law and order, accusing the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of orchestrating attacks on YSRCP workers. He expressed concern over the assaults on his supporters and the creation of a fearful atmosphere by the TDP.
On social media platform X, Jagan stated, "Even before forming the government, TDP gangs were on a rampage. Government properties are being destroyed. Leaders and activists of YSRCP are left unprotected. The peace maintained over the past five years has been completely disrupted."
He appealed to Governor Abdul Nazeer to intervene and stop the chaos caused by the TDP cadre. Additionally, Jagan Reddy sent letters to President Draupadi Murmu and Andhra Pradesh's Director General of Police (DGP), Harish Kumar Gupta.
The Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP alliance recently secured a decisive victory, winning 164 of the 175 assembly seats. The TDP and Jana Sena also won 16 and two Lok Sabha seats, respectively, from Andhra Pradesh, which could be crucial for forming a coalition government at the Centre, as the BJP lacks the numbers to form a government on its own.
