L&T clarifies, stating that it "did not" cause the roof fall at Delhi Airport's Terminal 1

Larsen and Toubro (L&T) issued a clarification regarding the collapse of a portion of the roof at Terminal 1 (T1) of Delhi Airport, expressing sympathy for those affected and clarifying their role in the incident:

1. **Sympathies Extended**: L&T extended their deepest sympathies to those affected by the incident at Terminal 1 of Delhi Airport on June 28, 2024.

2. **Non-Responsibility for Construction or Maintenance**: L&T clarified that they were neither responsible for constructing the collapsed structure nor for its maintenance. The structure in question was built by another company in 2009.

3. **Role in Terminal Expansion**: In 2019, L&T undertook an expansion project at Terminal 1 of Delhi Airport at the request of Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL). They specified that the collapse occurred approximately 110 meters away from the extended portion of T1, which L&T constructed and was commissioned in March 2024. They assured that the collapse did not affect this extended portion.

4. **Incident Impact**: The collapse, which occurred early in the morning, resulted in injuries and one fatality. It also led to flight cancellations and disruptions in airport services, prompting criticism and legal actions under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

This clarification from L&T aims to address misconceptions about their involvement in the construction and maintenance of the collapsed structure while expressing empathy for the victims of the incident.
