A 24-year-old man, who had disguised himself with dyed hair and beard to resemble an elderly person, was apprehended at Delhi airport while attempting to board a flight bound for Canada.
Identified as Guru Sewak Singh, he was intercepted by CISF officials on Tuesday at Terminal-3 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and subsequently handed over to the Delhi Police.
During the security check, Singh presented a passport under the name Rashvindar Singh Sahota, stated to be 67 years old, for his intended journey on an Air Canada flight departing from Delhi.
However, CISF officials grew suspicious due to inconsistencies observed during their scrutiny. They noted that Singh's appearance, voice, and skin texture appeared significantly younger than the age stated in the passport.
"A thorough examination revealed that he had artificially dyed his hair and beard white, and was also wearing glasses to create an illusion of advanced age," read a statement issued by CISF.
Upon intense questioning, Singh eventually revealed his true identity. Authorities also discovered a photograph of his genuine passport on his mobile phone, which confirmed his actual age as 24 years.
Following the discovery, Singh was handed over to the Delhi Police along with his belongings for further legal proceedings in the matter.
