Meta has recently announced the launch of its artificial intelligence, Meta AI, which is now available for all users in India. This AI will operate in English across Meta's suite of apps - WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. The introduction of Meta AI in India follows its unveiling several months ago. Previously, Meta AI was made accessible in countries like Australia, Canada, and New Zealand more than two months ago. This development also comes shortly after the introduction of Google's Gemini in India just a week ago.
Similar to other AI assistants, Meta AI will handle various daily tasks such as drafting emails, summarizing texts, and translations. While the availability of Meta AI has been announced starting today, it appears to be a phased roll-out. The Meta AI main website currently displays a message stating, “Meta AI isn’t available yet in your country.”
This suggests that the deployment of the AI assistant to users might be staggered across regions. The chatbot has already been launched in over 12 countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
As mentioned earlier, Meta AI will be integrated across all Meta platforms, encompassing Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram. Once fully rolled out, users will also access the AI assistant through its dedicated website.
The primary goal of Meta AI is to simplify tasks for users. Users can directly interact with the chatbot, a versatile assistant capable of answering queries and providing real-time information, powered by Google and Microsoft's Bing. It can also generate text and images, summarize lengthy texts, and assist with writing tasks.
Meta AI enables users to utilize the assistant within their existing personal and group chats on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger to seek advice or ask questions. The latest image generation technology offered by Meta AI empowers users to enhance their creativity, including creating animations.
Furthermore, Meta AI has been integrated into the search bar of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. For Facebook users, Meta AI can be accessed while browsing through the main feed.
Google Gemini
Before Meta's launch in India, Google introduced its AI assistant, the Gemini mobile app. Available on the Play Store, Gemini supports multiple languages, including English and nine Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
Google's Gemini app aims to cater to India's diverse linguistic landscape, ensuring broader accessibility. Users can accomplish various tasks like event planning, recipe creation, and writing social media captions through interactions with Gemini via typing, voice commands, or image uploads.
