A Delhi-Mumbai Akasa Air flight, carrying over 180 passengers, including an infant, was diverted to Ahmedabad on Monday morning due to a security alert onboard. The flight, designated QP 1719, safely landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at approximately 10:13 am.
All passengers were evacuated safely upon landing. A spokesperson for Akasa Air stated, "The captain followed all required emergency procedures and made the landing at the airport. Akasa Air is following and supporting all safety and security protocols on the ground."
In recent days, several flights have made emergency landings due to security alerts or threats. On Sunday, a Mumbai-bound Vistara flight carrying 306 passengers and crew members landed amid a full emergency alert after receiving a 'handwritten' bomb threat. On Saturday evening, a Varanasi-Delhi IndiGo flight received a bomb threat, prompting immediate action by airport authorities at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Additionally, an IndiGo flight operating from Chennai to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Mumbai airport after receiving a bomb threat, and the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay following security guidelines.
