NDA 3.0 leader Narendra Modi selected, Nitish Kumar's main takeaway from the meeting

The NDA alliance partners convened in Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the next steps following their victory in securing 292 Lok Sabha seats. Sources indicate that the BJP-led alliance plans to meet President Droupadi Murmu on June 7 to stake claim to form a government under the leadership of Narendra Modi. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the need for swift action in the government formation process during the meeting.

"We unanimously choose Narendra Modi as our leader," read a proposal signed by 21 NDA members, affirming Modi's leadership.

Present at the meeting were Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and JDU leaders Lallan Singh and Sanjay Jha.

Modi resigned from his post earlier in the day, paving the way for his likely oath-taking ceremony for a third consecutive term on June 8.

Attention is focused on Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu, whose roles could be pivotal in the government formation process.

Chandrababu Naidu, ahead of the NDA meeting, stated, "We are in NDA. I am going to an NDA meeting. Over time, if there is anything we will report to you."

The TDP secured 16 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh, while the JDU won 12 of the 40 seats in Bihar. Despite the BJP's shortfall in achieving a majority with 240 Lok Sabha seats, the NDA, with the support of its allies, clinched 292 seats.

The NDA meeting aimed to assess the Lok Sabha poll results and strategize the formation of a new government, which is expected to have a different composition and character, potentially involving a larger share of the BJP's allies, as per news agency PTI.
