In Bengaluru, four men were arrested for altering and circulating photos of at least seven women, including minor girls, on WhatsApp. This disturbing incident came to light after the father of one of the minor victims lodged a complaint with the police on May 30.
### Incident Details
The minor girls involved are school students, while the accused men are all alumni of the same institution. The father of a Class 12 student reported that his daughter discovered her photos had been morphed and shared in a WhatsApp group by her seniors who had graduated from the school. She learned about this from a schoolmate who was friends with the accused on May 28.
### School’s Response and Father’s Complaint
The girl's father approached the school for help, but they refused, stating that the men were no longer students. This prompted him to file a police complaint.
### Discovery and Arrest
The girl's elder brother investigated by meeting one of the accused and examining his phone, uncovering the WhatsApp group where the obscene photos were shared. The group had only four members, all of whom were the accused men.
### Social Media Connection
One of the accused had befriended the girl on Instagram, which led to him and his friends downloading and altering her photos.
### Police Action
DCP East Kuldeep Jain spoke to India Today, stating, "A case has been registered under the Information Technology Act and IPC section 354 A (sexual harassment). The accused men admitted to the crime and promised to delete the photos. Their devices have been seized. Since the accused are students, with a few being minors, action has been taken according to the law. All four accused are arrested, and further investigation is underway."
The police have seized the devices used in the crime and are conducting a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victims.
