The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several parts of Kerala, forecasting isolated heavy rainfall from June 8 to 11. Simultaneously, Delhi and other regions in north India may experience light rainfall today, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph.
A dust storm and thundersquall are expected in West Rajasthan on Saturday, according to the IMD. Additionally, the weather department predicts fairly widespread to widespread squalls, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) in Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep over the next 24 hours.
Isolated heavy rainfall is also predicted in south interior Karnataka on June 8 and 9, and in Telangana on June 10. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may see isolated light to moderate rainfall during the next four days.
Scattered light to moderate rainfall, with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph), is forecasted in Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh over the next three to four days.
In the Northeast, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds is likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, parts of West Bengal, and Sikkim throughout the coming week.
Meanwhile, several regions in north and northwest India continue to suffer from severe heatwave conditions, with maximum temperatures ranging from 43-46 degrees Celsius in parts of Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar. These temperatures are 2-4 degrees Celsius above normal.
Isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand are expected to experience heatwave conditions from June 8 to 11, Bihar on June 9 and 10, and Odisha, Punjab, and Haryana between June 9 and 11.
Isolated to scattered very light to light rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan on June 8.
