The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, has announced a price increase of Rs 2 per litre for Amul milk effective from June 3. This price adjustment affects all variants of Amul milk, including Amul Gold, Amul Shakti, and Amul Tea Special, across Gujarat.
According to an official note from GCMMF, the new prices reflect an increase of 3-4%, which is relatively lower than the overall food inflation rate. The revised prices are as follows: Amul Gold now costs Rs 66 per litre, Amul Tea Special is priced at Rs 64 per litre, and Amul Shakti is available for Rs 62 per litre. Additionally, the price of curd has also been raised.
This price hike marks the first increase in 15 months, with the previous adjustment occurring in February 2023 when prices were similarly raised by Rs 2 per litre.
GCMMF sources indicated that the new rates are now in effect in the Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Saurashtra markets. Specifically, a 500 ml pack of Amul Gold is now priced at Rs 32, Amul Standard at Rs 29, Amul Taaza at Rs 26, and Amul-T Special at Rs 30 per 500 ml, according to a report by the news agency PTI.
