The clash that erupted during a victory procession organized by the BJP in Mangaluru, Karnataka, resulted in two BJP workers being stabbed and another being thrashed. The incident occurred near Boliyar during the celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in for his third term. The procession was also in honor of Captain Brijesh Chowta's Lok Sabha victory.
According to reports, the altercation began when the procession passed by a mosque, and three BJP supporters allegedly shouted provocative slogans. This led to a confrontation with a group of around 20-25 Muslim youth on motorcycles. The clash escalated when both sides reached a bar, resulting in the stabbing of two BJP workers and the assault of another.
The injured men, identified as Harish (41), Nandakumar (24), and Krishna Kumar, were taken to a nearby hospital. While one is in stable condition, the other two are undergoing surgery. The Mangaluru Police Commissioner, Anupam Agarwal, stated that an investigation is underway, and three individuals have been detained in connection with the case.
In response to the incident, security has been heightened in the area to prevent further violence. The BJP workers involved have filed a police complaint, and the authorities are working to maintain peace and order in the region.
