Two people, including a 17-year-old girl, died after being hit by a vehicle carrying a DJ sound system during a marriage function in Betul, Madhya Pradesh. The tragic incident occurred when the wedding procession, which had started from Tangna Mal village, reached Jamudhana village on Thursday night.
The accident happened when the operator of the DJ sound system stopped playing music after 10 pm, leading to a dispute with the wedding guests. Amidst the chaos, the driver began reversing the vehicle, inadvertently running over three women who were part of the procession.
The victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where 55-year-old Ramrati succumbed to her injuries. The other two women, 17-year-old Reshma and 30-year-old Shanta were referred to the district hospital. Unfortunately, Reshma passed away en route, while Shanta is currently receiving treatment.
In the aftermath of the accident, local residents set the vehicle on fire. Betul's Additional Superintendent of Police Kamala Joshi confirmed that a case has been registered, and a search is ongoing for the absconding driver of the vehicle.
