Use all available counterterrorism tools: PM in the wake of the terror incidents in J&K

Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting on Thursday, alongside National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other top officials, to assess the escalating security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The region has witnessed a spate of terror attacks in recent days, particularly in districts like Reasi, Kathua, and Doda.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi received a detailed briefing on the current security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on ongoing counter-terrorism operations. Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, he instructed officials to leverage the full spectrum of India's counter-terror capabilities to restore peace in the volatile region.

Additionally, PM Modi held discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha regarding the deployment of security forces and strategic measures to combat terrorism effectively. Sinha provided updates to the Prime Minister on the proactive efforts undertaken by the local administration in response to the recent attacks.

The attacks, which claimed the lives of nine pilgrims and a CRPF jawan, also resulted in injuries to several security personnel and civilians. In response, extensive search operations have been initiated across forested areas of various districts in Jammu and Kashmir to locate and neutralize the terrorists responsible for these incidents.

Moreover, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have released sketches of four suspected terrorists believed to be active in Bhaderwah, Thathri, Gandoh, and surrounding areas, announcing a substantial reward for any information leading to their apprehension.

The heightened security alert spans several districts, including Sunderbani, Nowshera, Domana, Lamberi, Akhnoor, and others in Rajouri and Jammu. Intelligence agencies have issued warnings about potential 'fidayeen' (suicide) attacks on security installations and camps, underscoring the critical need for vigilance and readiness among security forces.

In conclusion, Prime Minister Modi's proactive engagement and directives underscore the government's firm resolve to safeguard the peace and security of Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that comprehensive measures are in place to counter any threats posed by terrorist activities in the region.
