Users of Adobe can now create and modify images in PDFs with AI

Adobe is integrating generative image capabilities into its PDF application, Adobe Acrobat, to enrich how users engage with digital documents. Beginning tomorrow, Acrobat and Reader users will have the ability to create and modify images within PDFs using text prompts directly within the document, leveraging Adobe's new Firefly Image 3 Model.

This AI-driven update introduces two primary functionalities to the PDF editor: "Edit Image in Acrobat" and "Generate Image in Acrobat." The "Edit Image" feature includes a suite of tools such as Generative Fill, Remove Background, Erase, and Crop, all powered by the Firefly model. These tools empower users to seamlessly add, remove, or adjust content within document images, facilitating tasks like eliminating unwanted elements, extracting backgrounds, or inserting new visuals directly within Acrobat.

In contrast, the "Generate Image" feature enables users to create and customize images in terms of size and style, integrating them seamlessly into any part of a document. According to Adobe, this generative image capability is designed to quickly enhance documents with unique visuals, simplifying the process of creating visually compelling content without requiring extensive design skills.

Abhigyan Modi, senior vice president of Adobe Document Cloud, emphasized, "With the new Firefly and AI Assistant capabilities in Acrobat, anyone can transform the information in their digital documents into actionable insights and visually compelling content - quickly and easily."

Simultaneously, Adobe has introduced enhancements to Acrobat's AI Assistant, a conversational engine integrated into Reader and Acrobat workflows. These updates aim to streamline tasks such as research, data analysis, and information sharing across various document formats, including PDFs, Word, and PowerPoint files.

Key features include "Insights Across Documents," allowing users to aggregate and format information from multiple documents into cohesive content. For example, marketers studying Gen Z consumers can consolidate relevant documents within Acrobat AI Assistant, which identifies key themes, and trends, and answers specific questions across all documents.

Additionally, improved meeting transcript capabilities automatically generate summaries of virtual meetings, highlighting main topics, key points, and action items. This ensures all meeting participants remain informed and aligned, even if they were unable to attend the session.

These advancements in Adobe Acrobat are aimed at enhancing user productivity and creativity, setting new standards for digital document management and interaction. Users can access Adobe's image generation tool directly through a standalone web application at firefly.adobe.com, which is easily accessible on mobile browsers such as Chrome, Safari, and Firefox.
