Prime Minister Narendra Modi resigned from his position today, ahead of an anticipated swearing-in ceremony for his third consecutive term, likely on June 8. Before stepping down, Modi addressed his cabinet members earlier in the day, emphasizing that "winning and losing is just part of politics," according to sources.
His remarks reflected on the BJP's performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which saw a notable decline compared to 2019. Despite this setback, Modi maintained optimism, stating, "Winning and losing are part of politics. The number game keeps going on. We have done good work for ten years and will continue to do so in the future as well."
The meeting, held at the Prime Minister's residence, marked the final gathering of the Modi 2.0 Cabinet and Council of Ministers. Modi expressed appreciation for their dedication, acknowledging, "The ruling organization has lived up to the expectations of the people everywhere and will do so in the future too. All of you have worked well and worked very hard."
Following the announcement of Lok Sabha election results, where the BJP fell short of the majority mark with 240 seats, Modi convened a meeting of the Union Cabinet. There, he assessed the election outcomes and deliberated on matters pertaining to the formation of the next government, as per sources.
