Why did Sandeep Reddy Vanga see the Kalki 2898 AD trailer "three times" with Prabhas, Deepika, and Amitabh

A fresh trailer for the upcoming Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD was unveiled to eager audiences on Friday. Opening with a poignant dialogue between Amitabh Bachchan's character, Ashwathama, and Deepika Padukone's character, the trailer sets an intriguing tone. Bachchan's character states, "They say the whole universe resides within God. But God himself resides in your womb."

Following the trailer release, filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his enthusiasm. Vanga, whose previous film Animal garnered significant attention in 2023, tweeted about watching the Kalki 2898 AD trailer multiple times. He shared, "Superb trailer (clapping hand emojis). Saw it three times. This is definitely a very new world and a very new experience. FDFS (first day first show) pakka (for sure)."

The latest trailer introduces more characters and insights into the film directed by Nag Ashwin, set in the year 2898 AD and drawing inspiration from Hindu scriptures. Disha Patani also stars in Kalki 2898 AD, scheduled to hit theatres on June 27.

Recently, the film's makers organized a grand event in Mumbai, attended by luminaries such as Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, and Rana Daggubati. During the event, Amitabh Bachchan shared his experience working on the film and his initial reaction to the script, praising the director for conceiving such an audacious concept.

Recalling his first encounter with Nag Ashwin's idea for Kalki 2898 AD, Bachchan humorously remarked, "Nagi came and explained the idea of Kalki 2898 AD. After he left, I thought, what the hell is Nagi drinking? To think of something like this is absolutely outrageous. Some of the visuals that you have seen just now are unbelievable. To have somebody conceive a project that is so futuristic is amazing."

He continued, emphasizing the director's vision and execution, "No matter what Nag Ashwin thought of, he actually got all the material and effects to match his vision. It has been an amazing experience working for Kalki 2898 AD which I will never forget."

Kamal Haasan, reflecting on his role in the film, also praised Nag Ashwin's storytelling prowess. Discussing his character, Haasan remarked, "I always wanted to play a bad man because the bad man gets to do all the good things and have fun. Where the heroes are singing romantic songs and waiting for the heroine, he (bad guy) can just go ahead and do what he wants. I thought I was going to play the bad man so it's going to be fun. But then, he (Ashwin) wanted it to be different. I'm almost like a sage in the film with a bad idea."

Haasan's distinctive appearance in the film has captured attention as well. Speaking about the transformation, he shared during the trailer launch event, "This get-up took a long time. We travelled to Los Angeles. We failed a couple of times, before arriving on the first acceptable look for the director. I think and hope the audience will react the same way we did when we saw the look."
